Privacy Policy
The short version: no accounts, no profiles, no user-generated countdowns. Here's the little we do touch, and why.
1. No accounts, no user-generated countdowns
You don't sign up to use time-and-space.science. We no longer offer a custom/user-generated countdown feature — every countdown page on the site is one we've written and curated ourselves. We don't keep a database of visitor accounts or profiles.
2. Your email (only if you contact us)
If you contact us through the report or wrong-date forms, the "share an idea" box, or the class request form on our classroom page, we only use the address you provide to follow up on that submission. We don't add you to any mailing list and we don't use it for anything else.
3. Analytics & technical data
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are popular (page views, approximate location, device type). This may set cookies; see Google's privacy policy for how it processes data. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We also keep an anonymous per-page view counter, it stores a count, not who visited.
4. Affiliate links
Some pages include affiliate links, including links to Amazon through the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. If you click one and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and Amazon may set its own cookies when you follow such a link. Earning a commission never affects what we choose to feature. See our affiliate disclosure for the full details.
5. Abuse reports & corrections
When you submit the report form or the wrong-date form, we keep the submission (the URL, your message and, if you include it, your email) long enough to act on it. Submissions are rate-limited by IP address to prevent abuse.
6. Class requests
The class request form on our classroom page collects a teacher name, a grade or year group, a town or city and region, an optional school year, an email address, and the request itself. It is for teachers and other adults to submit on behalf of a class.
We use those details to reply to you, and — only if you leave the credit box ticked — to publish a short credit line on a page we build because of the request, naming the teacher, the grade, the town and region, and the school year. Nothing else you send is ever published: not your email address, not the school's name, and not any student's name. Untick the box and we publish nothing at all.
Requests are kept for as long as they are useful to us in building or maintaining what was asked for. If you want your request deleted, or a credit removed after we have published it, ask us on the report page and we will do it.
7. Children
The service doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children, and there are no accounts. Almost every page asks for nothing at all. The one form with required fields is the class request form on our classroom page: it is meant for a teacher or other adult to complete on behalf of a class, not for students, and it asks for a teacher name, a grade or year group, a town and region, an email address, and optionally a school year. Please do not send us a student's name or any other personal information about a child — we do not want it, we do not need it, and we delete it if we receive it. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, tell us on the report page and we will remove it.
8. Changes
If we change how the site handles data, we'll update this page. The current version always lives at this address.
