These are calculated estimates, computed live in your browser with a standard solar-position method (the SunCalc library) from each city's listed coordinates — so they're always for today's date and can't go stale. Actual observed sunrise and sunset can differ by a few minutes with terrain, elevation, weather, atmospheric refraction, and how far you are from the listed coordinates.

What's the difference between sunrise and first light?
First light (civil dawn) is when the sun reaches 6° below the horizon — bright enough to see clearly. Sunrise is when the sun's upper edge crosses the horizon itself.
