The rules that never bent

Wimbledon still requires competitors to wear almost entirely white, still plays on grass as it did in 1877, and until 2022 had no final-set tiebreak. Tradition is the product: even the queue to buy grounds tickets is itself a famous institution with its own code of conduct.

How the 2026 Championships finished

Jannik Sinner successfully defended his men's title in 2026. The women's final was the first all-Czech singles final in Wimbledon history, won by Linda Nosková. Both are defending champions in 2027; the last fifteen years are listed below.

Strawberries by the tonne

Around 38–40 tonnes of strawberries and 10,000 litres of cream are served each fortnight, and the All England Club employs a hawk named Rufus to keep pigeons off Centre Court — arguably the most famous bird in sports.

How to watch Wimbledon

In the US, ESPN holds exclusive broadcast rights to Wimbledon, airing coverage across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, and streaming live on the ESPN app, with select match windows simulcast on ABC. Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam played on grass courts, and it typically runs from late June into mid-July at the All England Club in London.
